Now, in the South saying someone is “special” may not be considered complimentary, but in Russell’s case it is. Russell is not only a professional visual artist of the first degree, but he is also a marvelous writer which he shares via his websites. Several years ago, Russell gave me permission to use any of his essays which appear on his websites on Old Art Guy. Ocassionally Russell sends me an essay to publish. You might want to visit some of these websites: BrazoSphere, Blues Valley, and The Navasota Current. I might also want to check out his art site: Russell Cushman: Texas Painter & Sculptor. Russell in the past does not automatically appear on the new writing pages unless he has a work appearing in that issue. The reason for this is that I normally only promote folks who might financially benefit from such inclusion. As far as I know, Russell isn’t attempting to financially benefit from his writing, but the potential readers need to be aware of Russell’s writings. It, as well as Russell, are pretty special.
