TILMAN LLOYD HEIN
Tilman Lloyd Hein, the eighth child of Hugo and Nora Mae Hein, was a member of Somerville High School Band and graduated in 1966. He attended Blinn College and the University of Houston. He worked as a manager in the food service industry, as a real estate broker, and in the trucking industry as a parts salesman.
Tilman overcame many challenges in his life including being struck with polio at the age of ten. He was in the Hedgecroft Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center in Houston more than nine months. Tilman was, at first, confined to bed and then graduated to a wheelchair for most of his hospital stay; but to his family's delight, he was healed and returned home after nine months able to walk! He was struck by cancer in 2001. After treatment (and prayer) he was declared healed in 2003.
Friends appreciated Tilman's clever sense of humor and his sunny personality. He was a poet, a musician (playing trumpet and the accordion), a songwriter, and he loved studying the physics of light. His discovery of the relationship between light and gravitation entitled “Basic Gravitation” was copyrighted and filed with NASA in 2001.
Having written poetry throughout his life, Tilman wrote the poem “The Return of the Yegua, 2003” for the Yegua Reunion in the summer of 2003. He died on September 20, 2004. His wife died in 2015. His descendants include one married son, four married foster children, and several grandchildren
